Spooktacular Apron for your Spooktacular Treats!
From Window Valance to Apron!

A Seasonal Apron that can be used with all Seasons and Holidays!
Change the kitchen towel to match the season!
This is one of my favorite aprons to make!
It is SIMPLE and made from a WAVERLY WINDOW VALANCE!
Supplies:
One Waverly Valance on clearance $8.99 /reg.$ 39.99 (Tuesday Morning)
Waverly makes excellent window valances, the fabric is great quality and the valance is lined,
which will make a wonderful apron!
The fun part-- change your apron with the seasons!
One Seasonal Halloween Dish Towel

1.  Cut your valance  on both sides to the appropriate size.
This valance has a v-shape, measure accordingly so the "V" is in the middle of your apron.
2.  Unpick the ends of the valance.
3.  Make a 1/4 hem and sew.
4.  Leave a opening for ties to go through the top of the valance where you
would normally put your curtain rod.
5.  Add ribbon or any kind of trim to the top of the apron
by sewing the ribbon on both sides of the apron.
(You are placing your ribbon/trim as a hanger for your kitchen towel.)
6.  Add your seasonal kitchen towel
7.  You will be able to change your kitchen towel throughout the Seasons.
I like this apron because, you can easily throw your kitchen towel in the washer and
use your apron time after time!
8.  Make fabric ties that will feed through the casing of your apron and tie in the back.
You are finished!
ENJOY!
Thank you for visiting!
I will see you all tomorrow!

Friends Are Fun!

Welcome!
"Friends are fun!"
Brought to you by my seven year old daughter.
I love the patterns/detail on the girl's dresses!
I so agree with her drawing.
Friends give us warmth, sunshine, and smiles!
It's also great to look CUTE with your friends!
Who doesn't love polka dots, stars and hearts?
Speaking of hearts....I'm back with another
Valentines apron(look familiar), one that matches
the reversible children's apron created from a kitchen dishtowel!

This one is created for my miracle daughter, my sweetheart, my friend,
who reminds me daily that
Life is Fragile.

I will share a few simple details on how to make it.

For added length:  I added fabric to the dishtowel, which is your bodice front.
 1. Measure the desired length of your apron.
2. Measure the width of your dishtowel, cut bodice front accordingly.
(The width is 18 inches, the length of my bodice front is 12 inches.)
(My daughter is equal to a size 14/16 children's size)
If you want a larger apron you can add fabric to the sides of your dishtowel.

3.  Sew bodice front to dishtowel, right sides together.
4. For Reversible apron, lay apron on top of coordinating reverse fabric.
5. Cut your reverse side out, and set aside.

6. Make a band that slips easily over the heard from coordinating fabric
 (see directions for children's apron).
7. Pin your Rick Rack trim(optional) first to the right side of your bodice front.
8. Place band upside down on your apron front as shown.
9. Place reverse side of fabric on top, right sides together-- sew and press.

10. Your apron will look like the picture shown.
(If you want your rick rack on the front of the band, place it first, band second)
11. Make fabric ties for your apron
12.  Place Fabric ties between front and back of apron at the waist of apron or
where you are comfortable with your ties.
13.  Sew right sides together(front and back apron)
14. Leave a opening at the bottom of apron hem.
15. Turn hem under and sew.
(The dishtowel shown was purchased with the eyelet trim.)

Sew What's Cooking?

I'm a fan of aprons, especially handmade!  I love big pockets for crafting and cooking essentials.  How about you?  There are so many great apron patterns!  I have created my own pattern, since I'm guilty of never following a pattern, which I love patterns!  I love them for inspiration
I am so excited about the new Halloween fabrics!
I  found an adorable retro apron that is easy to make and FREE!
(Better Homes and Garden has great apron patterns).
You can find the apron directions HERE!

From Window Valance to Crafting/Cooking Apron

What's Cooking?
Hello Friends! It all started with a black and white checkered Waverly valance that was the wrong size for my kitchen window! I loved the quality and design of the fabric-plus it was lined, so I hung on to it and made a apron from a valance!
I found my valance at Tuesday Morning for $8.00 per valance. The Waverly valance had originally started at $55.00. Several of the valances at Tuesday Morning were clearance priced between $4.00-8.00. You can easily get two aprons out of one valance! (Check the length). The fabric is heavy drapery lined fabric. The style of my valance is in a "V" shape, which makes it even greater for a apron! (The measurements of the valance are 52" width x 20" length).

I added four lined pockets, a tie that slips through the casing, and ties around the waist.

Quick and easy! You can easily make one too!

Let's Get Started:
1. You can find valances similar to mine on sale. (Look for the heavy lined drapery valance with 2"-- 2 1/2" opening or you may have one on hand that you are no longer using.

2. Place the valance/apron around your waist for desired size. Cut to fit. (This is the back of the valance shown in the picture). You can see the fabric lining and how well it is suited for a apron! (I cut 10 inches off on each sid, the "V'" should be centered on your waist) With a straight valance, you could get two aprons in one valance!

A. You will have raw edges on both ends of your apron, to make a nice rolled hem on both edges, unpick back approx 1/2 inch.
B. Fold and press into place and sew a 1/2" hem. Do not sew the casing closed, you will need to leave a opening for the ties. Press and set aside, move onto pockets.

3. For Pockets, measure desired width and cut 8-10 inches for length of pocket.
4. Measure and cut lining of fabric for back of pocket.
5. Cut interfacing the same size as front and back fabrics.
6. See picture below, place your pocket front and back fabrics right sides together, place interfacing on top(like a sandwich).

7. Sew along the length of fabric on both edges top and bottom creating a tube.

8. Turn the fabrics to the right side or front of the pocket, press, trim with rotary cutter both ends of long tube. Sew the two openings closed by creating a nice hem on both sides of tube.

9. Press pocket and place on front of apron, pin into place.
10. Measure and mark your pockets. I generally mark 3-4 pockets evenly spaced. Sew pockets to apron at both ends of pockets and bottom of pockets.

11. Measure and cut fabric to desired length for ties. I like my ties to go completely around my waist and tie in the front. Measure ties so they will fit through the valance casing.
12. Press rolled hem on both ends of ties, fold and press into place and sew. Make sure you press the ends before you sew. I like to sew top and bottom of tie.
13. Feed the tie through the casing with large safety pin.

Your apron is complete and ready to wear!
Enjoy!
