PLOT:
February 14th is a day of hearts and flowers and sweet sentiments, unless you are Laura Conners and Dylan Hackett, former sweethearts and spouses on the verge of divorce. Laura, a busy bank executive has moved her daughter Kelsey to New York to restart their lives after separating from her husband and childhood sweetheart Dylan, who still resides in Texas. Laura’s been so immersed in her job, she has conveniently forgotten to sign the divorce papers buried at the bottom of her purse. Since Laura and Kelsey moved to New York six years ago, Dylan has seen his daughter on a mere handful of occasions. He’s had enough. Dylan sues Laura for custody, forcing her to return to Texas.
At the hearing, the pair begin bickering, forcing a Texas State Family Court Judge to order a cooling off period to give Dylan and Laura a chance to think about what’s most important – Kelsey. The judge re-sets the custody hearing for February 14. Now Laura, Dylan and Kelsey have a Valentine’s date to remember what made them a loving family, so that everyone’s heart can be happy once more.
“A Valentine’s Date” is executive produced by Barry Barnholtz, Zelma Kiwi and Jeffrey Schenck, produced by Michael Feifer and co-produced by Peter Sullivan. The movie is based on original material by Jeffrey Schenck and Peter Sullivan. “A Valentine’s Date” is directed by Michael Feifer from a screenplay by Michael Feifer and Peter Sullivan. Music by Andres Boulton.
Movie Review:
This was a delightful movie to sit back, relax, and watch.... a Terrific Family Film.
There is a sweet love story, a cute little girl, and a beautiful outdoor setting of country-side and horses.
Laura (Elisa Donovan) is living in New York with her daughter, Kelsey (Kirstin Dorn), and living on the fast track to success. She has left her husband, home, father, family, friends, and everything back in Texas. Nothing seems to slow her down, until her husband, Dylan (Brad Rowe),who she is seperated from, files for joint custody of their daughter. He is tired of only seeing his little girl only a couple times a year. This forces Laura and Kelsey to go home to Texas for a hearing.
The Judge (Catherine Hicks) is not sympathetic towards Laura and reschedules their hearing on Monday, February 14th - Valentine's day - and asks them to talk it over and come to their own agreement. Well, this makes for a long weekend - as the couple disagrees back and forth as to what should be done. Dylan remains very calm over the matter and eventually reveals to Laura that he had been speaking to their Pastor, Frank (John Schneider) and he asked him - 'if, at the end of his life would he be happy with the choices he has made.' Dylan said, no. This was an interesting and thoughtful moment in the movie - you could tell Laura felt the same way about their lives and each other.
(see the script to Pastor Frank's sermon about Marriage below.)
Everything, seems to slowly be working out between Dylan and Laura.... however, things take a turn when Laura's Attorney, Samantha Pierce (Tracey Gold), reveals to Laura that Dylan is near broke and losing his family's ranch. He can't possibly ever win custody of their daughter.
What will Laura do now? Expose Dylan and run off with their daughter - back to New York - or can Laura and Dylan learn to forgive, trust, and love one another again?
The ending is just as sweet as the rest of the movie. The all-star cast is spectacular and believable in all of their unique roles in the lives of this couple.
Enjoy.... ahhhhh.... a Happy Ending!

Pastor Frank's Marriage Sermon:
(portrayed by John Schneider)
"Today I want to talk about something I haven't talked about very much in this church."
"Hello." (The Pastor acknowledges Dylan, as he waves from the back and walks in late and joins his family, in their pew.)
"Something that is very important. I want to talk about marriage. I've married a lot of couples over the years. Some of who are sitting in this church right now. They always come to me with the same wish... they want a perfect marriage. So today I want to ask everybody here - exactly, what is that? - what is a perfect marriage?
Now, a wife might tell me that a perfect marriage is one where her husband is devoted without question... he's loyal, he's deeply sensitive to her needs.
A husband might tell me... a perfect marriage is one where the wife goes out on Sunday afternoon so he can sit down and watch the game.
Yeah, my point is... everyone has their own definition of what a perfect marriage should be. As long as that's the case, no marriage can ever truly be perfect. Perhaps the question is not what we want the relationship to be, but rather what we need one to be. Maybe there's an emptiness inside their soul. They are looking for something to fill it. But, Marriage is not some kind of spiritual spackle. See, only God can fill that void. What we need is a partnership and that, like any partnership, takes skill. Takes effort.
Look here, we're out of time, go ye out into all the world and Love One Another!"

Smooch, A Hallmark Channel Original Movie for Valentine's Day 2011
MOVIE REVIEW
Smooch
Network: Hallmark Channel
Original Air Date: February 5, 2011
CAST:
Kellie Martin ... Gwen
Simon Kassianides ... Percy/Flynn
Kiernan Shipka ... Zoe
Nicholas Ullett ... Wilkins Merriman II
Rodman Myers ... Sam Simon
PLOT:
from Hallmark Channel Press Release:
Two-time SAG Award-winning actor Kiernan Shipka (Sally Draper, "Mad Men") joins Emmy(R) nominee Kellie Martin ("Life Goes On") and Simon Kassianides ("Quantum of Solace") in the Hallmark Channel Original Movie "Smooch."
The movie is an updated loosely-based, live-action homage to the Brothers Grimm short story -- The Frog King -- in which a hapless Prince is turned into a frog by a witch's cruel charm. He must convince a Princess to take him home and treat him like a king. Reluctantly, she does, and on the third day, the Princess awakens to find that her kindness has transformed the frog into a handsome Prince, and the pair lives happily ever after.
In "Smooch," Shipka plays "Zoe," a young girl obsessed by fairytales and happy endings who is searching for the perfect man for her widowed mother Gwen (Martin). It is Zoe's belief in a frog's potential charm that compels her to abduct one from her middle school science class, carrying him to the San Francisco Bay in a water-filled lunchbox where she intends to set him free. Having skipped class, Zoe is surprised to see another schoolmate at the Wharf, and in her anxiety, accidentally drops her green friend overboard. As she surveys the scene, a male monarch (Kassianides) in full royal regalia emerges from a dinghy in which he fell after a wild night of partying. The dazed prince looks more like Humpty Dumpty, sporting a giant goose egg on his head, courtesy of his fall from the pier. Though the prince has little memory of who he is or how he got into such a predicament, he is in luck. Zoe knows precisely how this fairytale ends.

"Smooch" is produced by Beantown Ranch Entertainment in association with Silver Screen Pictures.
Hallmark Channel, owned and operated by Crown Media Holdings, Inc., is a 24-hour basic cable network.
Movie Review:
I must admit to you honestly...
I didn't expect to really like this movie - I thought it was going to be strange and entirely unrealistic. The commercial promo had me believing this - but instead, I thought it to be... delightful, adorable, and completely enjoyable!
The movie starts off with a Medieval Scene, where a knight saves a princess, only to be turned in to a frog by his evil nursemaid, who just happens to be green! Okay, this sounds strange, however, we soon learn that a litlle girl, Zoe, is only reading this story in a book and we've been in her imagination!
Zoe loves the stories of Flynn - the classic tale of a frog turned into a prince, from a simple kiss. Zoe's Mother, Gwen, is widowed and very busy running their family's restaurant. It is Zoe's wish that her Mother (Kellie Martin) can find love again.
At school, Zoe is supposed to dissect a frog, but she cannot bring herself to do it- so, instead, she ditches school to release the frog. This is where the adventure begins... she kisses the frog - it jumps away - and in her sweet childlike imagination she believes her frog has turned into a man she finds at the swamp.
Okay, this next part is not great for kids, but was rather funny... she ends up taking this man home with her - by wheeling him in a grocery cart. Who knows where she got a cart, near the swamp, or how in the world she got him in it - but she took him home and helped him get cleaned up. Then, she helped him interview for her Mother for her new Nanny. Of course, he gets the job! A little far-fetched I suppose... but the story was so cute and I just loved the actress, Kiernan Shipka, as Zoe... and I've always loved Kellie Martin... since Life Goes On, Christy, Movies of the Week, Mystery Woman, etc...
Of course, this man, Zoe calls Flynn, also has a story and life of his own. He is actually a Prince who was about to be married, but on the eve of the wedding, he went out and drank himself drunk and ended up at the swamp in the old boat - where Zoe find him - disgusting and dirty - and without any memory of his past.
Flynn opens up a whole new world of fun and excitement for Zoe and her Mother, who is learning to let go and enjoy life again, since losing her husband. Zoe, has trouble with girls at school and Flynn helps her with that and gives her advice on boys, too! There is also a very interesting older woman who lives in their apartment building... I loved the scenes with her - she was soooo funny!
It may not have been altogether serious or entirely realistic, but it was enjoyable... I laughed so hard and never knew what to expect in the next minute! It was a terrific family romantic comedy.
My only cautions would be: the quick scene of drinking near the beginning and the fact that this little girl brought this strange man home and let him stay in her closet for the night. I think most older children would realize this was only a fun, fictional story.
Will Gwen open up her heart and learn to love again? Will Zoe ever get the attention from a cute little boy at school, who she thinks destroyed her Valentine Card? Will Percy (who has gradually regained his memory) choose his Royal obligations as Prince or will he choose real love with Gwen?
I think you'll enjoy how it ends!

PLOT:
The Lost Valentine, based on the novel by James Michael Pratt, stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as a reporter who profiles a woman (played by Betty White) whose husband was declared missing in action during World War II.
Movie Review:
A beautiful touching reminder of how precious love is!
THANK YOU to all of our Service Men and Women - past and present. GOD Bless You!
The World War II generation is a lovely setting for the love story of Neil and Caroline. As he is leaving with the Navy on a train - Caroline rushes to find him - and hands him a red envelope. Inside he finds a sweet Red Valentine shaped as a heart... written on it is a message telling him to keep it close to his heart and bring it home to her.
Betty White portrays Caroline, as an older woman now - recalling her love story to Susan, (Jennifer Love Hewitt) a TV Reporter. Neil was reported as Missing in Action those many years ago- and since that time, Caroline has returned every year on Valentine's Day at the train station to wait for him.
While Susan is following Caroline and Neil's love story - she is realizing herself, the meaning of true love. Her boyfriend, the nature photographer, has just proposed, and taken off again on another excursion halfway around the world. He often places his own needs and pleasures ahead of hers. Lucas, Caroline's grandson, is altogether different - as a physical therapist, he is always helping others... as well, as being there for his grandmother. Susan instantly finds herself drawn to him... and he to her.
It's a beautiful story of lasting love til the very end.
Tissues absolutely needed!
See or Skip:
See, a timeless love story!
*There is nothing offensive in this, except there is one scene near the end I will caution for children, depicting war violence. This probably would not be entertaining for most younger viewers, anyway. This movie is more suited for maturer young people - and could be used as a great historical lesson. I know many adults enjoyed this movie - whether they are looking back at their own, their parents, or their grandparents generation!

News reporter Susan Allison is looking for the perfect story about true love, though she doubts where such a thing really exists. Neil Thomas, Jr. wants the world to know about his parents’ bittersweet love story: On February 14, 1944, Caroline Thomas said good-bye to her beloved husband, a Navy pilot sent to the Pacific. For fifty years, she waited for him—until a miracle happened, and she received his lost valentine… In the present day, when Susan and Neil meet, can the story of Neil’s parents bring them together in a love as powerful as she dreams of and he remembers?
