News for "The November Christmas" - Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie

-
I mentioned in a previous post this month (July 2010) that there will be a new Hallmark Hall of Fame movie titled The November Christmas.

This is the Movie – I told you that I have found details about, slowly, like a Puzzle with many Pieces. Well, now the pieces fit together!

In addition to earlier learning two members of the cast list, John Corbett and Sam Elliott, and finding a short synopsis (below), I received an e-mail from the writer of the story, Mr. Greg Coppa. He sent me information regarding the main cast list and his short story, in which the movie is based.

The Storyline Synopsis: The parents of a little girl with cancer overcome their personal issues to celebrate Christmas early so their daughter may enjoy it.

I felt honored to read Mr. Coppa's story, and am looking so forward to seeing the Hallmark Hall of Fame production. It is truly a heartwarming story of an older couple who reach out to a young family, whose little girl is ill, and touch all of their hearts in an early November Christmas!

MAIN CAST :

Sam Elliott ... Jess

Karen Allen ... Claire, Jess’s wife

John Corbett ... Tom, Vanessa’s Dad

Sarah Paulson ... Beth, Vanessa’s Mom

Emily Alyn Lind ... Vanessa

(Thank you, to Mr. Greg Coppa, who wrote the short story this movie is based upon, for providing this information for The November Christmas.)

PLOT:

from CBS Press Release:

In this drama, set in a small Rhode Island community, neighbors band together to create magical Halloween and Christmas moments - several weeks early - for a young girl named Vanessa, who is facing a serious illness.

Told entirely in flashback from the perspective of a vibrant Vanessa, at age 23, the drama begins in the summer of 1995 when the 8-year-old Vanessa (Emily Alyn Lind) has just returned from several weeks of tests and treatments at a Providence hospital. Though deeply concerned about Vanessa's serious prognosis, her father, Tom (John Corbett), is committed not only to her full recovery but also to keeping things as happy and normal as possible for her and his 4-year-old son, Gordon, and his wife, Beth (Sarah Paulson).

As newcomers to town, Tom and Beth choose to keep Vanessa's illness to themselves. As a result, Tom is initially perceived as an oddball by his farmer neighbor, Jess (Sam Elliott), after Tom shows up at Jess's vegetable stand hoping to purchase pumpkins and tag a Christmas tree. Jess cannot imagine why Tom would be crestfallen to learn that it's too soon for either activity. However, after subsequent interactions with Tom and the visibly weak Vanessa, Jess figures out what Tom is trying to do. Jess and his loving wife, Claire (Karen Allen), suffered their own loss years ago, so he is particularly empathetic - and motivated to help bring cheerful holiday moments to Vanessa as soon as possible.

Jess's mission to obtain pumpkins drives him to mend a broken relationship with his former best friend, Ted, whose nephew grows pumpkins south of New England. Soon Vanessa, Gordon and Tom are excitedly selecting from an array of pumpkins at Jess's stand, after which Vanessa's family enjoys a festive Halloween party - in August - thanks to more thoughtful contributions from Jess and the normally gruff Ted.

In subsequent weeks Vanessa must spend an extended period of time in Providence undergoing further treatments. When she's allowed to return home in November, Vanessa worries that she's scheduled to be back in the hospital in late December and will miss being home at Christmas. As Vanessa and her family drive home from the hospital, little does she -- or her parents -- know that Jess, Claire, Ted and other neighbors will welcome her home with a November Christmas she'll always remember.

Back in the present day at movie's end, we see how people's lives were impacted by the summer of 1995 - and how the "November Christmas" has never been forgotten by these two families and their friends.

NOVEMBER CHRISTMAS is a Hallmark Hall of Fame production. Brent Shields ("The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler") is the executive producer; Robert Harmon (The Jesse Stone movies) is the director. P'nenah Goldstein ("Loving Leah") wrote the script based on the short story of the same name by Greg Coppa.

The second movie is...

It's Christmas in New York City and Mrs. Merkle is a sassy saleswoman in a family-owned department store that could use a little holiday magic.

Click here for more details. Stars Doris Roberts from Everybody Loves Raymond.

By the way, I personally loved the original Mrs. Miracle movie that premiered in 2009, so I'm truly looking forward to this one!

HALLMARK HALL OF FAME:

This is the Movie – I have found details about, slowly, like a Puzzle with many Pieces.

I found out, in late June / early July... that Hallmark was doing auditions for a new Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Movie titled November Christmas.

The Storyline: The parents of a little girl with cancer overcome their personal issues to celebrate Christmas early so their daughter may enjoy it.

Then I happened to catch an interview (on July 16th) of John Corbett (well known from Northern Exposure, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, etc...) and he mentioned that he had just been cast in a Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Movie with Sam Elliott, and they would be filming for the next 6 weeks in Halifax, Canada.

It is stated on the audition forms that “November Christmas” will be filmed in Halifax, Canada. All the puzzle pieces seem to fit!

Immediately, however, when John Corbett  mentioned Sam Elliott’s name – my eyebrows raised. Sam Elliott played the father in the original “Prancer” Christmas Movie and John Corbett was in the 2nd movie in that series, "Prancer Returns". This movie, unfortunately, doesn't have anything to do with the Prancer Movies, which I personally love. I know many fans would enjoy a third movie.

For now, this is the only information I have on “November Christmas”. Stay tuned...
Please e-mail me if you know anything more.

ABC FAMILY:

Rumors...

I have heard that for ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas they are doing Sequels for 2 of their popular movies – Holiday in Handcuffs and Snow and Snow 2: Brain Freeze.

The two new movies would be Holiday in Handcuffs 2 and Snow 3.

Holiday in Handcuffs 2 is said to star Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez with Josie Bissett and Molly Ringwald according to information obtained previously at Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holiday_in_handcuffs#Sequel

I haven’t found this information to be confirmed, yet, by ABC Family... So, it is not a guarantee... just something I happened to hear. We’ll have to wait and see!

UPDATE #1 (August, 2010) : Still No Word on these movies. I don't honestly think they will happen this year, but that is only my guess!

Enjoy your Summer, Everyone! I'll be sure to keep you posted if I happen to hear any more news!

Please e-mail me if you hear or see anything else, as well!

God Bless You All !!!
