God Bless America on September 11th, 2011

It has been ten years since that tragic day of September 11th, 2001...
when America's Homeland was viciously attacked and nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives in an instant.

We pray now, for our Country and those who lost someone they loved on that day. And, we pray, for those who escaped with their lives, but forever carry their memories.

Like many of you, I remember watching the events unfold on my TV that day, surrounded by my family - wondering what might happen next. It was extremely frightening, however, I pray we never forget.

God bless You All, our Courageous Military, and God bless America...

As we remember the terror of this horrible event in our American History, let us take heart in these words from our former President:

"Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a Power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23:
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for you are with me.
This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night. And God bless America."

~ President George W. Bush
on the night of September 11, 2001

I know I will watch some of these shows, but I must admit, not all. It is difficult to re-live the memories of this tragic day, yet it is important for us all to remember it. I cannot imagine what those who were there on that day are going through... especially, after the earthquake on Tuesday, (August 23, 2011) which forced people to evacuate their work places after the buildings shook - reminding them eerily of 9/11 all over again.

I pray for all the families who endured loss on that day of September 11, 2001 and for those who have lost loved ones - soldiers, fighting for our freedom ever since.

God Bless America ~ Land that I love!

I hope many of you saw the PBS National Memorial Day Concert. It was very well done - respectful, moving, and deeply inspiring. Listening to those stories of bravery and loss, our family wept. I am so deeply proud of our Military and each time I hear these stories, I feel even more proud of our troops and America!

I am so proud to be an American... God bless America!!!

If you missed this special show, Sunday evening... it may replay in your area tonight - May 30th. I  checked my local PBS - and they are playing it late - at 3 AM. Please check yours and record it if you have to. It's a great program for honoring what the true meaning of Memorial Day is - a day to honor our Troops, our Freedom, and Country.

Happy 4th of July ... It's Independence Day!!!

May you celebrate and honor everything wonderful about this country... the United States of America!

We are so blessed to live in this great nation. Thank you to our Lord, Jesus Christ, our Forefathers, and our Military, for our Freedom! We know it wasn't free.

God Bless America!

July 1776 ~

John Adams thought that the vote for independence on July 2nd would be the day commemorated; he did not foresee that Americans—including himself—would instead celebrate Independence Day on the date that the announcement of that act was finalized - July 4, 1776.

In a letter to his wife, Abigail Adams, John wrote:

"The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America.

I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty.

It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

I find those words to be a beautiful decree from the heart of our Forefather and second President, John Adams ... that this day... ultimately celebrated on July 4th... "ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty."

I agree wholeheartedly that our celebrations, picnics, parades, Patriotic Songs and Hymns, and Firework Displays should all be in glory and honor of our Lord, God Almighty... our Creator who has blessed each and everyone of us who live in this great country! How wonderful that this tradition of marking our Patriotism to America is still carried out Over 200 years later!

Happy Fourth of July!

GOD BLESS AMERICA...
and ALL Who Defend Her!
