12 Dates of Christmas

CAST:

Amy Smart ... Kate Stanton
???????? ... Miles Dufine

She is also stuck on trying to win back her jerk of an ex-boyfriend, even though he has moved on to other women. Kate meets a wonderful man named Miles Dufine on a blind date. However, Kate can't see Miles for the great person he is, because she is caught up in a blinded obsession with her ex. After she falls down in a department store and is knocked unconscious, she becomes hopelessly stuck in a circular "time warp" in which she is doomed to repeat her unfortunate Christmas Eve over and over until she can embrace true love and the spirit of Christmas.

ABC Family Movie - Teen Spirit

MOVIE REVIEW

Teen Spirit
Network: ABC Family

Original Air Date: August 7, 2011

PLEASE NOTE: Please read my WARNING regarding this Movie, below, under Movie Review.

CAST:

Cassie Scerbo ... Amber Pollock
Lindsey Shaw ... Lisa Sommers
Tim Gunn

PLOT:

from ABC Family press release:

Amber Pollock (Cassie Scerbo) is the queen bee of Patrick Boone High School, and the only thing missing to her reign is the Prom Queen title. Having worked for years towards obtaining the crown and most popular girl status, Amber lets nothing and no one stand in her way. That bad behavior comes back to literally haunt her when a freak accident at Prom ends Amber's short, nearly-perfect life and, facing an unpleasant after-life, she is given the task that could save her soul - to get the school's least popular girl to be voted Prom Queen. Amber is sure her future is sunk when she learns her charge is none other than Lisa Sommers (Lindsey Shaw), a shy girl who makes claymation films with her three best friends and whose fashion sense is not up to Amber's standards. As for Lisa herself, the last thing she wants is to be Prom Queen, but when Amber offers to help her get the attention of her crush, Nick, Lisa gives Amber the benefit of the doubt. Will a head-to-toe makeover and some confidence-building advice really be able to turn a shy and awkward teen into a high school social power player? Only Heaven knows!

Movie Review:

I haven't seen this movie, but it looks pretty much like any another Mean Girls copycat sort of movie. I'm sorry, but... Been there, seen that.

And, from reading the plot description (above) the movie sounds like it will be sac religious. As a Christian, I believe accepting Jesus into our hearts, and asking forgiveness for our sins, is the way we all will enter into heaven.

In this movie, a young girl named Amber dies, and in order to save her soul, she must help a non-popular girl become prom queen. Oh, that sounds like a truly noble goal. NOT!

I personally will not be watching this movie. Nor will I ever recommend it. I am including it on my site - merely as a caution & warning for TV viewers.

This movie sends the completely wrong message to teenagers regarding the preciousness of life, reality, and spirituality.

I must recommend skipping this one.

ABC Family Movie - Cyberbully

MOVIE REVIEW

Cyberbully

Network: ABC Family

Original Air Date: July 17, 2011

CAST:

Emily Osment ... Taylor Hillridge
Kelly Rowan ... (Taylor's Mom) Kris Hillridge
Kay Panabaker ... Samantha Caldone
Jon McLaren ... Scott Ozsik
Meaghan Rath ... Cheyenne Mortenson
Jade Hassouné ... Caleb
Nastassia Markiewicz ... Lindsay Fordyce
Robert Naylor ... Eric Hillridge
Caroline Redekopp ... Karen Caldone
Ronda Louis-Jeune ... Becca

PLOT:

ABC Family's two-hour original movie, "Cyberbully," follows Taylor Hillridge (Osment), a teenage girl who falls victim to online bullying, and the cost it nearly takes on her and her family. Taylor is a pretty 17-year-old high school student but a little awkward, and painfully aware of it. When her mom gives her a computer for her birthday, Taylor is excited by the prospect of freedom and the independence of going online without her mother always looking over her shoulder. However, Taylor soon finds herself the victim of betrayal and bullying while visiting a social website, and afraid to face her peers at school, including her best friend (Panabaker), she is pushed to a breaking point. It's only after this life-changing event that Taylor learns that she is not alone - meeting other teens, including a classmate, who have had similar experiences. Taylor's mom, Kris (Rowan), reels from the incident and takes on the school system and state legislation to help prevent others from going through the same harrowing ordeal as her daughter.

"Cyberbully" was written by Teena Booth and directed by Charles Binamé. Executive producers are Michael Prupas and Joel Rice.

MUSIC:

Emily Osment single “Drift” premieres in the ABC Family Original Movie “Cyberbully.”
Listen to it, here.

Movie Review:

Emily Osment reminds me of Reese Witherspoon and my best friend, back in high school (just a few, (gulping), years ago!). Emily is such a sweet girl, best known for her wholesome Disney image and role as Lilly, on Hannah Montana - which I guess is why this movie is all the more intriguing.

My thoughts after watching...

Wow! This movie was extremely intense and powerful. I'm hoping it has opened the eyes of many young people and parents. Bullying is real in person and on-line.

Parents should always beware of any social-networking site that a child/teen is active in.

I found this movie to be very realistic for all of the first part. Taylor Hillridge (Osment), is totally attacked on-line and called horrible names. Classmates and total strangers are rude, mean, and relentless in spreading terrible lies. There is a lot of typing back and forth on their computers, etc... and it's difficult sometimes to catch it all - but lots of cursing and slang lingo was used to stereotype Taylor as being - well,... a slut. Which, she isn't.

This movie is definitely not for younger viewers. Mature Pre-teens and Teenagers need to see this show - to hopefully prevent further bullying and warn them against potential dangers online. Taylor learns that two people who have injured her the most on-line are actually people she thought she could trust - first, her brother and then, her supposed best friend, Samantha.

The part I didn't find to be truly realistic... After Samantha betrayed Taylor and bullied her almost to the point of taking her life, Taylor learns what her friend did and eventually forgives Samantha, choosing to be her friend again. She states that it may not be in the same way (well, duh?) - but, I personally don't know how she could ever trust her again. Forgiveness is one thing, but actually being her friend again was unrealistic for me. They also confront the bullies at school together - in the lunchroom and other students stand up and support them. The bullies eventually just walk out - acting defeated. Would that happen in real life? - most likely not.

Overall, however, there is a good message in this movie. Taylor's mother is very sweet and somewhat overprotective, yet this attack came upon her daughter so quickly, she couldn't prevent the emotional turmoil it caused in Taylor. She does her best to help her daughter - telling Taylor her life is precious and eventually she takes her to a support group. It was good for Taylor and others to learn and understand that they are not alone in this.

My Future Boyfriend - ABC Family Movie

MOVIE REVIEW

My Future Boyfriend

original title:
Always and Forever

Network: ABC Family

Original Air Date: April 10, 2011

RATING : This movie is Rated TV: 14

Please Note: Unfortunately, ABC Family Movies are not always Family - Friendly. For this reason, and due to it's rating, I have removed this movie from the Family TV Schedule.

CAST:

Sara Rue ... Elizabeth Barrett
Barry Watson ... Pax
Valerie Harper
Fred Willard ... Bob

PLOT:

Can love survive everything – even the past, present and future?

In the movie Barry’s character, Pax, comes from the future, where there isn’t love. He visits present day New Orleans in search of romance novelist Elizabeth Barrett, played by Sara, whose book his culture found during an archeological dig in the year 3125. Pax hopes that Elizabeth will be able to describe the concept of love to him so he can bring it back to the future.

Valerie Harper will play a colleague of Elizabeth’s, and Fred Willard will play the character, Bob, who is Pax’s superior in the future who helps him go back in time.

Movie Review:

Please Note: This Movie was Rated TV-14 with a Caution of Language and Dialogue.

I found the characters to be just as odd as the story. It was rather silly and cheesy. This guy, P-A-X-497/341 (AKA - PAX, played by Barry Watson) comes from the future to the past – which is our present day, to try and discover what the word Love means. In the future the word Love doesn’t exist and people seem to be without emotion or feeling. When PAX goes out to eat – he doesn’t recognize common foods or music. Elizabeth Barrett, (played by Sara Re) is a Romance Novelist, who is intrigued by PAX and his quest for discovering Love. She is already involved with someone, yet finds herself attracted to PAX.

If you like futuristic movies or a bit of Sci-fi, then this might be interesting to you. Or, if you are a fan of Sara Rue, who is always sweet, quirky, and delightfully fun in any role she plays... then you’ll want to see this. Fans of Barry Watson, who is a handsome guy, may not quite recognize in this as he seems strange, somewhat nerdy, odd, and a bit nutty.

All in all, I won’t tell you exactly how it comes about... but there is a future Happy Ending for PAX and Elizabeth .... a great ending to an odd, but sweet... Romantic Comedy.

See or Skip:

Remember, it is Rated TV-14. If it sounds interesting to you, then see it. It is kind of out there - but cute!

ABC Family Premieres Wild Child during "Campus Crush"

This Movie, Wild Child, stars Emma Roberts (Nancy Drew) and Natasha Richardson (the Mother in the The Parent Trap remake with Lindsay Lohan). This is, sadly, Natasha's last film, before she passed away tragically, after a skiing accident.

Here's a picture, of the lovely Actress:

Wild Child Premieres on TV, August 8, 2010, ABC Family at 8 PM est during the network's annual 10-day summer programming event "Campus Crush" (August 1 - August 10).

Read My Caution below...

Please Note - CAUTION: This Movie is available on DVD... it is Rated PG-13.
From Movie Reviews I've read, I must Caution that this Movie is NOT suitable for young viewers, due to Extreme Language, and other Innuendos, etc...

I absolutely do NOT recommend this Movie on DVD. Perhaps, ABC Family, will edit and omit some of the objectionable content. Personally, I just wish they would choose to create these movies (especially those directed at youths) without the need of editing.

For better Family Movies on DVD, with these Actresses, see The Parent Trap, Nancy Drew, or
Grand Champion.

Movie Review:

Please Note: I, personally, did not like the original movie title: EX-MAS CAROL. As a Christian, I find it to be offensive when anyone misuses the word, CHRISTMAS, and removes the name of Christ. I am glad they chose to re-name the movie, Christmas Cupid, however....

THIS IS NOT A FAMILY MOVIE!
