Mickey & Bunny - Sing English Xmas Carols in Ukrainian

This was a from a lot of Christmas records I purchased from a Canadian dealer off eBay earlier this year.

According to the online Encyclopedia of Music In Canada, Mickey and Bunny were a married couple who enjoyed surprising success throughout Canada with their mix of Ukranian, German, and Polish songs, dances, and original compositions.

They released a series of albums on Winnipeg's V-Records, occasionally teaming up with D-Drifters-5, an instrumental group that gained notoriety with their album of Beatle covers in Ukrainian style (oh, to find that album!)

This 1965 album finds Mickey & Bunny singing their favorite Christmas carols in English and Ukrainian and it took forever typing out the titles in the MP3 tags. I felt like John Lennon at the end of "Helter Skelter" - "I've got blisters on me fingers!"

Mickey & Bunny had several albums to their name before splitting up in 1970. Mickey pursued a solo career. This is where the trail ends (insert your own joke here).

I SPY CHRISTMAS!

Another great creation from Grandma! Brianna received an "I Spy Bag" in her church bag with her "Gospel ABC Book" last year for Christmas. She loves it! This one is so cute with all Christmas contents inside!

This is a Bing Crosby clip unlike any other. Bing was the semi-permanent host of "The Hollywood Palace" and hosted many of his earlier Christmas specials in conjunction with that program.

On December 25, 1965, Bing didn't appear with his family on the show (that tradition started in 1966). Instead, he invited the stars from a CBS show he produced called "Hogan's Heroes" to appear with him over the ABC television network. Feel free to skip past the Sylvania flash bulb commercial to around the 1:00 mark:

Christmas Greetings (U.S. Navy)

This album has been bandied about on eBay many times in the past but when a copy found its way to my local thrift store, I picked it up.

Glad I did. These are two different U.S. Navy Christmas shows hosted by Danny Thomas. We get to hear varied naval base bands such as the Port Authority of the U.S. Navy Band, the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club, and The Dixieland Group of the U.S. Navy Band playing their favorite Christmas tunes in many different styles.

The year was 1973 and the draft had officially ended. The Navy was in the midst of becoming an all-volunteer Navy and were actively looking for new recruits. Inbetween the songs, Danny reminds you to check out your local recruiter to "be all that you can be".

I used one of the tracks on my annual Christmas CD - there's something for everyone on this album. I think you're gonna like this one!
